Suspect Apprehended Week After Shooting In St. Mary's County, Sheriff Says

A 23-year-old didn't make it far following a reported late June shooting in St. Mary's County that resulted in property damage, according to the sheriff's office.

Deputies were called in early on Wednesday morning to the 46000 block of Flower Drive in Lexington Park, where they executed a warrant and arrested Davione Syheme Mason, a suspected shooter involved in an incident last month.

According to the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office, on June 26, there were reports of shots fired in the 46000 block of Columbus Drive, though no shooter was initially apprehended.

No injuries were reported, but a bullet hole was found in a nearby home and multiple shell casings were found at the scene. 

Mason was ultimately identified as the suspect, and on June 3, he was arrested and charged on the warrant for possession of a handgun on a person, loaded handgun on a person, reckless endangerment.

He was taken to the St. Mary's County Detention and Rehabilitation Center in Leonardtown where he was being held pending a bond hearing.
